The End of Remembrance - Carinthian Partisans
Zell Pfarre/ Sele - Fara
The third station
in the exhibition series "The End of Memory" takes place at a location
which is strongly connected with Ernst Logar´s personal history. Here,
near Pogerschitzen / Pogrče, lie Ernst Logar´s roots. It was here,
in Feliferhof (Graz-Wetzelsdorf), that his grandfather was arrested and executed
by the Nazis in April 1945. In this installation Ernst Logar gives voice to
Carinthian Slovenes to recall their dramatic experiences during the second
World War with the partisans and to talk about the post-war years and their
current lives in Carinthia. The conversations recorded by the artist constitute
a vivid documentation of the last generation of witnesses to the times; those
who opposed the Nazi regime and whose memories are soon to be lost.
